The Order
The Divine Source
One Divine Source, two balanced currents, and the facets through which the Whole is honored.
Our View of the Divine
The Order recognizes that there is but one Divine Source that permeates everything. Everything that is—is and always has been a part of the one Divine Source, while the Source is and always has been a part of everything.
Within the Source flow two currents, one masculine and one feminine. This allows the Source to be completely balanced in every way. Therefore, to recognize the full nature and full divinity of this oneness, the Order shows honor through the duality and balance that is the God and Goddess.
The God and Goddess represent the two currents that together in union comprise the singular Divine Source. Since the Source is One, the God and Goddess are not two deities standing apart from it. They are the relational language of the Whole—distinct as currents, never divided from the Source—moving in the never-ending dance of Perfect Love and Perfect Trust that we call life.
Balance Within the One Source
The Order holds one Divine Source, known through dual current and balance rather than through a single current alone. Christianity is often described as monotheistic. For the Order, to embrace only the masculine current (God) would be to deny the feminine current (Goddess). Doing so would be suppressing or repressing half of the Divine Source, creating imbalance in both day-to-day life and spiritual life. The results of that patriarchal imbalance can be seen in many of the problems in today’s world, and that imbalance is not acceptable to us.
Our view is that there is but one Divine Source, and that both the God and Goddess are the two currents that represent and reflect the Divine Source in balance and duality. Each God or Goddess identity names one aspect or facet of its respective half of the Source—not a separate being beside the Whole.
Contrary to most opinions, this is not necessarily opposed to the Christian view that there is only one God and that no other aspects are to be considered separate from that one God. Our view is a way of both incorporating the Christian view and furthering it in a way that creates and restores the duality and balance that was always meant to be.
The Patron Lord and Lady
The aspects of the God and Goddess honored as patrons in this tradition are Cernunnos and Cerridwen—chosen faces of the currents, not second gods beside the Source. They represent a numerous set of reciprocating qualities found in both human life and the living world.
They represent the God of the Sun and Goddess of the Moon; God of physical love and Goddess of deeper love; God of the underworld, the astral plane, nature, and lord of the light; Goddess of the underworld, inspiration and intuition, nature, and keeper of the Cauldron.
The Order respects and honors them in all their glory and looks to their wisdom to guide lives and teach. They represent all forms of Love and Trust and the manifestation of those through their Sacred Union.
