The purpose of ritual is threefold. The first purpose is to give honor and celebrate the God and Goddess. The second is to raise focused energy effectively and direct it toward a goal. The third combines the first two.
Sabbat rituals give honor and respect to the God and Goddess while celebrating their many aspects. In simplest form, ritual is performed in love, honor, and devotion. The second purpose, raising focused energy and directing it toward a goal, creates a state of mind where magick can work effectively.
Some of the most beautiful rituals include both devotion and working, honoring the God and Goddess while being performed in an atmosphere of love and trust.
