Spirit, Water, Fire, Earth, and Air in source-study form.
The four base elements used in ritual are Water, Fire, Earth, and Air. They align elemental strength with the energy used within ourselves and give cumulative representation to the natural elements united to bring forth life.
Spirit
Spirit is the center: cycles, interconnectedness, community, spiritual life, soul, synthesis, self-actualization, ritual, meditation, auric and bio-energetic work. Its tools include crystal, amulet, mandala, cauldron, star, altar, and circle. Its colors include white radiance, purple, blackness of the womb, and rainbow.
Water
Water is associated with oceans, lakes, rivers, rain, springs, body fluids, feeling, emotion, intuition, dreams, relationships, emotional health, friendship, empathy, music, art, chalice, mirror, basin, blues and aqua, Undine, Cups, sunset, twilight, waning moon, old age, compassion, and understanding.
Fire
Fire is associated with lightning, flame, solar power, electricity, energy, action, career, will power, creative endeavor, exercise, work, candle, lamp, bonfire, wand, rattle, lion, dragon, phoenix, Salamander, Wands, summer, noon, adulthood, discipline, assertiveness, and doing.
Earth
Earth is associated with the North, soil, rocks, stones, skin, fur, bones, roots, plants, physical body, home, material possessions, health, nutrition, rest, salt, plate, pentacle, coins, drum, green, brown, black, Gnome, Pentacles, winter, midnight, dark moon, death and rebirth, ancestors, strength, security, prosperity, manifestation, and stillness.
Air
Air is associated with the East, winds, breath, clouds, atmosphere, thought, intellect, analysis, knowledge, mental health, breathing, incense, feather, bells, sword, athame, journals, words, books, yellow, golden radiance, hawk, eagle, Sylph, spring, dawn, waxing moon, youth, communication, wisdom, intelligence, and swiftness.
