The Watchers
Guardians, witnesses, and elemental watchtowers.
The Watchers are guardians of the dimensional places, protectors of the ritual circle, and witnesses to rites kept through the ages.
In older traditions they guarded portals to the Other Worlds. In modern Wiccan traditions they are often conceived as rulers of the elemental kingdoms and guardians of the Watchtowers.
The Watchers are summoned at the four cardinal directions of the circle and represent the element of each direction. They watch over the circle, protect it and its occupants, and bear witness to the rites being performed.
